Seven Spots, That's It
With only 7 trailer spots and one lane, this fills fast on summer weekends. If you're headed out on a Saturday morning, get there before 8 AM or you'll be improvising.
Easy Ramp, Small Boats
The T-dock setup makes launching and loading straightforward for aluminum boats and small fishing rigs. Don't try to muscle anything over 18 feet in here — the approach is tight and the pond doesn't reward big horsepower anyway.
Fishing Pier Next Door
Walk east from the launch and you'll hit the adjacent fishing access site with a pier and restroom. Good fallback if you just want to fish from shore, and the restroom beats anything you'd find at the launch itself.
Perch and Scenery
Mio Dam Pond is gorgeous and relatively quiet compared to busier Au Sable access points downstream. The fishing can be hit or miss — the fish are there but they make you work for them. Perch and smallmouth are the main draw.
Consumers Power Land
The launch sits on land leased from Consumers Power, so don't be surprised if there are occasional access quirks or signage that doesn't quite match what you'd expect from a typical state-run site. It's well maintained for what it is, but it's not a destination launch — it's a quiet local put-in.
