Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Winter Access Nightmare
The road in doesn't get plowed, period. If you're thinking about ice fishing here without a snowmobile or ATV, forget it — you're not making it to the ramp. Plan accordingly from about December through March.
Tiny & Primitive
One lane, six trailer spots, and infrastructure that dates back to the early '80s. This is a small, quiet lake launch best suited for kayaks, canoes, and small aluminum boats. Don't bother trying to get anything over 16 feet in here.
Rocky Bottom
The lake bottom is super rocky, especially near shore. If you're wading to guide your trailer or dragging a kayak in, watch your footing and protect your hull. Water shoes aren't optional here.
Worth It For Solitude
Dixon Lake barely registers on most people's radar, which is exactly the point. You'll rarely see another truck in the lot. If you want a peaceful paddle or a quiet afternoon chasing panfish in Otsego County, this is one of the better-kept secrets around.
