Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Single Lane Simplicity
One lane with cement pads on both sides of the dock, so it's straightforward to launch. Don't expect to share with a crowd — if someone's struggling on the ramp, you're just waiting.
Plenty Of Parking
64 trailer spots on a gravel lot with a grassy overflow strip in the middle. Even on weekends this place doesn't fill up like launches closer to Grand Rapids. You'll almost always find a spot.
Gateway To Bass River
Great staging point if you want to explore Bass River or cruise west toward the Lake Michigan channel. Just know you're looking at about an hour to reach the big lake because of all the no-wake zones — pack some patience and enjoy the scenery.
Bare-Bones Facilities
There's an outhouse on site, but it's rough. Bring your own supplies and set your expectations low. No other amenities — no fish cleaning station, no potable water, nothing.
Old-School Launch
This site dates back to 1957 and it feels like it. The ramp is functional but don't expect modern upgrades. It's a quiet, no-frills put-in that works well for smaller boats and kayaks heading into the Grand River system without fighting the crowds at busier Kent County launches.
