Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Ramp Is Deteriorating
The concrete ramp has a nasty hole worn into the edge from people power-loading, and ruts in the adjacent gravel can make it tricky to navigate — especially with a wider trailer. Take it slow backing in and watch your tires.
Flooding Happens Here
This spot is prone to flooding, particularly in spring when Grand River levels come up. I've seen the entire launch area underwater more than once. If we've had heavy rain, check before you make the drive.
Single Lane Bottleneck
One lane and 18 trailer spots means weekends can stack up fast. If you're heading out on a Saturday morning, get there early or be ready to wait. Weekday mornings are a different world — practically have the place to yourself.
Kayakers Love It
This is really a small-water gem for kayaks and canoes. Paddle the bayou for a peaceful trip, or duck under the bridge to access the Grand River if you want more adventure. Power boats can launch here, but the bayou itself is more suited to paddle craft and small fishing boats.
No Dock Lately
Don't count on a dock being in the water — it's been missing for a while now. You'll want someone to hold the boat or tie off to something while you park the trailer. Makes solo launches a bit more of a juggle.
