Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Rocky Ramp Bottom
The single lane has a rocky bottom that you'll feel immediately. If you're launching a smaller aluminum boat, take it slow backing down — rocks can hang up your trailer rollers and scratch gel coat in a hurry.
Weekend Bottleneck
One lane and 19 trailer spots. Weekdays you'll have the place to yourself, but Saturday mornings in July you're going to be waiting in line. With only one lane, one slow retrieval backs everyone up.
Clean and Functional
For a state park launch, it's well-maintained and doesn't collect the usual trash and weeds you see at some Presque Isle County ramps. Restrooms are right in the day use area next door, which is a nice bonus.
Black Lake Access Trade-Off
This isn't the biggest or best launch on Black Lake, but it's reliable and the park setting is hard to beat. If the lot's full here, there are a couple other access points on the lake worth knowing about — but this one tends to be the quietest on weekdays.
