Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny & Intimate
Three trailer spots is all you get. If even one other person has the same idea as you on a Saturday morning, somebody's making a three-point turn on a narrow gravel pull-off. Best to arrive early or go midweek.
Small Boats Only
This is a little inland lake — think canoes, kayaks, and maybe a 14-foot jon boat. Don't bother dragging anything big up here. The single lane is narrow and the water near the ramp stays shallow, especially by late summer.
Wildlife Steals The Show
Loons nest on this lake, and you'll hear them before you even get your boat wet. Bobcats, bears, and owls are all in the neighborhood too. It's a genuinely wild spot for being off a state park road.
Fishing Is Modest
Don't come here expecting a trophy haul. There are some pike in the lake but nothing to write home about. This is more of a paddle-and-soak-it-in kind of place than a serious fishing destination.
State Park Access
You're coming in through Hoeft State Park, so you'll need a Recreation Passport on your vehicle. The road in is manageable but keep an eye out — signage to the launch itself isn't exactly obvious once you're inside the park.
