Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny But Quiet
Four trailer spots and one lane — that's it. This isn't a high-traffic launch, but on summer weekends even four spots can fill up fast since there's no real overflow area nearby.
Remote Access Road
Lake Nettie is deep in the backcountry of Presque Isle County. The roads getting in are narrow and can be rough, especially in spring when frost heaves and mud make things interesting. Don't count on cell service out here.
Smallmouth Fishing
The smallmouth bass fishing here is legitimately good. The lake doesn't get hammered the way more accessible Presque Isle waters do, so the fish see less pressure. Small boats and kayaks are the move — this isn't a big-rig kind of launch.
Seasonal Sweet Spot
Early summer through early fall is prime time. By late September the launch area gets less attention from the state, so expect some leaf debris and potentially shallow water near the ramp. Spring launches can be dicey depending on water levels and road conditions.
