Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Ramp, Small Boats
This is a one-lane launch barely wide enough for a small jon boat or canoe. Don't show up expecting to back a 20-footer down here — it's really designed for kayaks, cartoppers, and maybe a 14-foot aluminum with a small outboard.
One Trailer Spot
There is literally one designated trailer parking spot. If someone's already there, you're improvising on the shoulder or campground road. Not a place for a Saturday morning group outing.
Gravel Roads In
Getting here means navigating county gravel roads through state forest land. Signage is minimal and GPS can get squirrely. Know your route before you head out, especially if you're towing — some of those turns are tight with a trailer.
Worth It For Solitude
The trade-off for the bare-bones launch is that you'll likely have the whole lake to yourself. It's a small, quiet lake tucked away in Presque Isle County — midweek you might not see another soul on the water. Evening bass and panfish activity is visible right from shore.
Paddle-In Paradise
Honestly, this launch is best treated as a kayak or canoe put-in. Several campsites sit right on the water, so most paddlers just launch from their site and skip the ramp entirely. If you're not camping, the ramp works fine for hand-carry boats.
