Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Small Water Launch
This is a single-lane concrete ramp on the South Branch of the Bad River — we're talking small to mid-size boats only. The ramp is 12 feet wide with plank sections, so don't try squeezing anything wide down there without checking your trailer width first.
Weekend Overflow Works
Normally 15 trailer spots, but on weekends they open up extra space and can fit about 30 rigs. Duck season and early fishing openers are the times you'll actually compete for spots. Weekday mornings, you'll practically have the place to yourself.
Game Area Hub
This doubles as the Shiawassee River State Game Area field office, so there's usually DNR staff around. Great spot to grab free regulation brochures if you're new to the area. Just know the office door isn't always open — they're often out in the field.
Shallow River Reality
The South Branch of the Bad River is not deep water. Late summer levels can get low enough to make you nervous about your lower unit. Best suited for jon boats, canoes, and small aluminum rigs. If you're pulling a bass boat, look elsewhere.
