Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Dock Here
There's no dock at this launch, so retrieving your boat solo can be a real pain. Bring a buddy or have a plan for wading in to guide the trailer. Kayaks and canoes are a non-issue, but anything bigger and you'll feel it.
Small Boats Only
This is a one-lane ramp on a narrow creek — think jon boats, kayaks, and small fishing rigs. Don't even think about bringing anything over 16 feet. The 20 trailer spots are plenty since traffic here is light.
Game Area Vibe
It's tucked inside the Shiawassee River State Game Area, so expect hunters sharing the lot during fall waterfowl season. Outside of hunting weeks, you'll practically have the place to yourself. Great bank fishing spot too if the boat stays home.
Quiet But Remote
This isn't a manicured launch — it's a game area access point, and it feels like one. Signage getting in can be sparse, so pull it up on GPS before you head out. Once you're there, though, it's peaceful and uncrowded almost any day of the week.
