Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shared Parking Crunch
52 trailer spots sounds generous until you realize 23 of those vehicle spaces are shared with the roller hockey crowd and general park users. On summer weekends, the dog park and kayak rental people fill the lot fast. Get there before 10am on Saturdays or you'll be circling.
Dollar Launch Deal
One dollar to launch — hard to beat anywhere in Saginaw County. Free for county residents. It's two lanes and handles small to mid-size boats fine, but this is the Tittabawassee, not Saginaw Bay, so you're mostly talking bass boats, kayaks, and light aluminum rigs.
Muddy After Rain
The trails and low-lying areas around the park turn into a swamp after any decent rain. The grounds near the ramp can get soft and sloppy too. If you're backing a trailer down after a heavy storm, stay on the concrete and don't let your tires wander onto the shoulders.
Multi-Use Chaos Factor
This park wears a lot of hats — dog park, kayak rentals, roller hockey, playgrounds, pavilion rentals. On a busy Saturday afternoon it can feel more like a county fair than a boat launch. The ramp itself is tucked at the end of the park, so at least you're away from the worst of it, but the drive in through the park is slow with all the speed bumps and foot traffic.
Hours Gate You In
Park hours are 8am to 9pm, and they mean it. No pre-dawn launches for early morning fishing. If you're looking for a crack-of-dawn start on the Tittabawassee, this isn't your spot — plan around it or find an ungated alternative upstream.
