Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Real Ramp
There's no boat ramp here — zero lanes, zero trailer parking. You're carrying in a kayak or canoe from the sandy beach areas at the campsites. Don't show up expecting to back a trailer down to the water.
Rough Road In
The access road is a long dirt two-track with washouts, deep puddles, and sandy stretches. A truck or SUV handles it fine, but a sedan towing anything is asking for trouble, especially after rain. Give yourself extra time and patience.
Bug Season Is Real
Late June the mosquitoes here are absolutely vicious — swarm-the-car-when-you-open-the-door level. If you're paddling out in the evening, bring a head net and douse yourself. It calms down later in summer but early season is brutal.
Solitude Is The Draw
Only six campsites, no cell service, zero light pollution. Most weekends you might be the only one out on Cusino Lake. If you want a quiet paddle-fishing spot where you won't see another boat all day, this is it — but don't expect any amenities beyond a vault toilet and a hand pump.
