Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Truly Remote Access
This is deep Upper Peninsula backcountry — expect dirt and two-track roads to get in. If you're not familiar with the area, GPS can be unreliable, so study the route before you go. Signage is minimal at best.
Small Water, Small Ramp
One lane, two trailer spots — that's it. This is a put-in for small boats, canoes, and kayaks. Don't show up with a 20-footer expecting a smooth operation. A 14-foot jon boat is about the sweet spot here.
Bass Over Trout
The bass fishing is legit, and perch can be surprisingly good. Trout are supposedly in there but don't count on them — the bass are the main draw.
Solitude Is the Point
You're not competing with anyone for ramp time here. Most days you'll have the entire lake to yourself. It's the kind of place where you might not see another person all day, which is exactly why people make the drive.
