Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Zero Trailer Spots
There's no designated trailer parking here, which sounds worse than it is — there's street and lot parking nearby that works fine for smaller rigs. But if you're rolling in with a 20-foot boat on a weekend, you're going to be improvising.
City Launch Fee
Port Huron charges a fee to use this ramp, so have some cash or check with the city beforehand. Not a huge deal, but worth knowing since a lot of the state-managed ramps in the area are free.
Quick In-and-Out
Two lanes on a relatively small river means you're almost never waiting. This is a weekday evening kind of launch — pull up, drop in, and you're fishing in five minutes.
Black River Size
This stretch of the Black River near I-94 is manageable water but not wide. Stick to smaller boats and jon boats — anything over 18 feet and you'll feel cramped navigating upstream. The river opens up as you head toward Lake Huron.
