Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Traffic Flow Chaos
Eight lanes sounds like a dream until you see the traffic pattern — it's awkward and congested when all the ramps are active. Weekend afternoons turn into a spectacle. If you're not confident backing a trailer with an audience, come early on weekday mornings.
Shallow On Retrieval
Water levels at the ramp can get deceptively low, especially later in the season. Pulling out is where it bites you — your trailer rollers may not be deep enough to float the boat back on cleanly. Tilt your motor up and take it slow.
Weekend Parking Fills Fast
120 trailer spots is generous, but on a nice Saturday this place absolutely packs out by mid-morning. Evenings during the week are a completely different experience — plenty of space and way less stress at the ramp.
Great Staging For Options
This is one of the best jump-off points on the lower St. Clair River system. You can run out to Muscamoot Bay, fish the channel for walleye, or explore upriver. Just be ready for serious boat wake in the North Channel when traffic picks up — it gets genuinely rough close to the launch.
State Park Pass Required
Don't forget you need a Recreation Passport or day pass — about $11 for the day or $45 for the year. They will check. Also, bring your own toilet paper for the outhouses; they run out more often than they should.
