Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Flooding Risk
When the St. Clair River is running high, this ramp goes completely underwater — and I mean all the way back to the road. Check conditions before making the drive, especially in spring. If the water's up, there's literally nothing to launch from.
Tight Operation
One lane and eight trailer spots. This is a small-batch launch, best suited for jet skis and smaller boats. Show up with a 22-footer on a Saturday and you're going to have a bad time trying to maneuver.
Footing Is Sketchy
The ramp surface gets slick and the transition from pavement to water isn't obvious — easy to lose your footing and end up ankle-deep before you planned to be. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet and watch where the ramp edge drops off.
Weekday PWC Gem
If you're dropping a wave runner on a quiet weekday, this spot is hard to beat. Peaceful, uncrowded, and the river current isn't as brutal here as it is further upstream toward Port Huron. Just don't expect amenities — it's bare bones under Algonac State Park management.
