Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Steep Ramp Grade
The ramp drops off fast — if you're launching a pontoon, the back end can get submerged deeper than you'd like before the boat floats free. Smaller aluminum boats and bass boats handle it fine, but heavier pontoons can be a real hassle, especially solo.
Parking Crunch
Ten trailer spots sounds okay until you realize the lot is tight and people sometimes park parallel to the lake instead of in the marked spots. When that happens, maneuvering a truck and trailer in or out becomes a headache. Get there early on weekends or you'll be improvising.
Undersized For The Lake
One lane serving this whole lake means you're sharing with everyone. Weekday mornings are smooth, but Saturday launches can turn into a little dance of waiting your turn. It works, it's just not built for heavy traffic.
Decent Smallmouth Fishing
The lake holds some legit smallies along with plenty of panfish. It's a quiet enough spot that pressure stays low most of the season — one of its real advantages over busier St. Joseph County lakes.
Bathrooms Are Basic
There's a bathroom on-site, which is a plus for a launch this size, but don't expect plumbing — no running water, no heat. It's a vault toilet situation. Functional in summer, not somewhere you want to linger in November.
