Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Lake, Tiny Launch
This is a small inland lake in St. Joseph County — don't confuse it with the Omena up in Leelanau. One lane, six trailer spots, and that's about all you need here. It's a quiet spot that suits small boats and kayaks perfectly.
Ramp Showing Its Age
The federal grant that built this ramp dates back to 1993 and the infrastructure is officially past its useful life. The surface is worn and you'll want to take a look before backing down, especially later in the season when silt and debris accumulate near the bottom.
Swimmers at the Ramp
Local kids treat the launch area like a swimming hole in the summer. On warm afternoons you might have to wait them out or politely nudge your way through. Mornings are your best bet if you want a clean shot at the ramp.
Good for a Quiet Day
Six trailer spots sounds limiting, but this lake doesn't draw big crowds. Weekday mornings you'll likely have the whole place to yourself. Weekends can see a handful of boats but nothing that creates real congestion — it's a neighborhood lake, not a destination.
