Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Small Lake Charm
Sturgeon Lake is a quiet spot that doesn't draw crowds. One lane and 10 trailer spots are more than enough — I've never seen this place anywhere close to full, even on summer weekends.
Keep It Small
This is a small, peaceful lake best suited to Jon boats, kayaks, and smaller bass boats. Don't plan on bringing anything over 18 feet — the single lane and lake size just don't warrant it.
Bathrooms On Site
One thing that sets this apart from other little St. Joseph County launches is that there are actual bathroom facilities here. That's rare for a site this small and this far off the beaten path.
Old-School DNR Site
This launch has been public since 1958 and it feels like it. The infrastructure is basic — don't expect courtesy docks or fancy amenities. But for a low-key fishing session or a quiet afternoon on the water, it's exactly what you need.
