Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow Ramp Problems
The dirt ramp gets painfully shallow near the waterline. Even loading a flat-bottom jon boat can be a fight — you'll be dragging hull on bottom if the water's not up. Definitely not the place for anything with a deep draft.
Dirt Surface Hazard
This is a dirt launch, not concrete, so it gets slick and rutted depending on recent rain. Go slow backing in or you'll be digging ruts with your trailer tires and making it worse for everyone.
Weekday Solitude
With only 10 trailer spots and a small lake, this place is dead quiet on weekdays — you might have the whole lake to yourself. Weekends can feel tighter just because there's so little parking, but it's never truly packed.
Weedy Later In Season
By midsummer the weeds really fill in across much of the lake. Great structure for bass and panfish, but you'll be clearing your prop and picking vegetation off your line constantly. Early season is a much cleaner paddle or motor.
Small Lake Charm
Huzzy is a quiet little lake that doesn't draw crowds — that's the whole appeal. Don't come expecting a big ramp with amenities. There's no trash cans, and the bathroom is bare-bones. But if you want a peaceful afternoon chasing panfish on a clean lake, it delivers.
