Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Rough Road In
The access road is bumpy and rutted — take it slow, especially with a low trailer. It's manageable but don't expect pavement the whole way.
Tiny Lot, Plan Ahead
Six trailer spots go fast on summer weekends and during ice fishing season. If you're not there early, you're parking creative or turning around.
Bass Honey Hole
This is a legit bass lake. Smallish and secluded, so the pressure stays relatively low compared to bigger Van Buren County waters. Fish hit topwater right off the launch area.
Kal-Haven Trail Adjacent
The lake sits right next to the Kal-Haven Trail, which is a nice landmark if you're trying to find it — signage to the launch itself isn't exactly obvious. Look for the trail crossing and you're close.
Ice Fishing Caution
Popular ice fishing spot in winter, but the lake doesn't always freeze uniformly. Shallow bays lock up well before the center does, and there can be sketchy thin spots mid-lake even in January.
