Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Steep Single Lane
The ramp is solid concrete and in decent shape, but it's noticeably steep. Take it slow backing down, especially with a lighter rig. With just one lane and six trailer spots, you don't want to be the guy blocking everyone while you sort things out.
Weed Factor
Three Mile Lake has serious weed growth, especially by mid-summer. Seaweed gets thick not far from shore, so if you're running a smaller outboard or trolling motor, expect to be clearing your prop regularly. Bass anglers won't mind, but it's worth knowing.
Half-Lake Speed Zone
Only half the lake is open for high-speed boating, tubing, and skiing. The other half is restricted. If you're coming specifically to tow tubes or run wide open, you'll feel boxed in pretty quickly — Lake Cora nearby is a better pick for that kind of day.
State Park Sticker Required
You need a Recreation Passport (state parks sticker) on your plate to bring a vehicle in here. Easy to forget since it's just a basic DNR launch, but the Van Buren County sheriff does patrol and will ticket.
Year-Round Fishing Access
This spot earns its keep as a fishing launch. Good panfish lake, solid ice fishing in winter, and it's rarely crowded on weekday mornings. Six trailer spots is tight on a summer Saturday, but for a dawn patrol during the week you'll have the place to yourself.
