Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Real Ramp
There's no actual boat ramp here — zero lanes. It's a carry-in access point, so you're sliding kayaks and canoes down to the water. Don't even think about backing a trailer down.
Kayak Paradise
This is a small, quiet lake with no motorboats allowed. You'll have the whole surface to yourself with a kayak or canoe, and the fishing is surprisingly good — deep water with a solid mix of species.
Parking Is Tight
One trailer spot, and that's being generous. If someone else is already there, you're out of luck. Best to come early on weekends or stick to weekdays. A small vehicle or just a car-top carrier is the move here.
Rec Area Pass Required
It's inside the Waterloo State Recreation Area, so you'll need a valid Michigan Recreation Passport on your plate to get in without getting a ticket. Easy to forget if you're just popping out for a quick paddle.
Hidden Gem Feel
Doyle Lake doesn't draw crowds — most people in Washtenaw County don't even know it's here. That's the whole appeal. If you want solitude and a real shot at untouched fishing, this is one of the best carry-in spots in the area.
