Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Deceptively Shallow
The southern half of the lake is barely a foot deep — you'll be dragging bottom with anything bigger than a kayak. The northern end runs 3-5' with a deeper pocket northwest around 8'+, but getting there with a motor means knowing the exact path or you're grinding.
Kayak Launch, Really
Calling this a "boat launch" is generous. It's a basic access point with no dock, fine for kayaks, canoes, and maybe a small jon boat. Trying to trailer anything with real draft in here is asking for trouble.
Hidden Turnoff
The drive in is tucked away and easy to miss — no big signs announcing it. Game area road, gravel, a little rough but nothing that'll stop a regular vehicle. Just know what you're looking for or you'll blow right past it.
Five Spots, Period
Five trailer spots and that's it. On a fall weekend during duck season or a warm Saturday morning, you might pull up to a full lot. There's no real overflow option — you're either in or you're turning around.
Watch for Debris
There's an old broken-down duck blind on the west shore about a quarter mile north of the launch with nails and junk left behind. If you're wading or walking the shoreline, watch your step — it's the kind of thing that'll send you to the ER.
