Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow Channel
They dredged the channel from the ramp to the lake back in 2018, but it's been silting back in steadily. If you're running anything with a real draft, you'll want to tilt up and idle out carefully — late summer can get dicey with only a foot or two of water in spots.
Small Lot Fills Fast
Sixteen trailer spots is all you've got, and on a Saturday morning in July, those are spoken for by 8 AM. There's no real overflow option nearby, so plan accordingly or shift to a weekday if you can swing it.
Keep It Small
This is a small, quiet lake — perfect for kayaks, canoes, and aluminum fishing boats. Don't bother dragging a 20-footer out here. One lane, tight turnaround, and the lake itself doesn't reward big horsepower.
Hidden Gem Factor
Joslin doesn't get the pressure that Portage or Half Moon do, which is exactly why locals like it. Good panfish water, peaceful shoreline, and you won't be dodging jet skis all afternoon. The tradeoff is the limited ramp infrastructure — worth it if you want a mellow day on the water.
