Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Non-Motorized Only
This is a paddle-only lake — no gas or electric motors allowed. Perfect for canoes, kayaks, and rowboats, but don't show up expecting to drop a bass boat in.
Tiny Parking Situation
Four trailer spots is all you get. For kayaks and canoes that's usually fine on weekdays, but on a sunny summer Saturday you might be parking on the grass or turning around. Get there early if it's a holiday weekend.
Fishing Is Hit Or Miss
Don't come here expecting a productive fishing trip. The lake is small and the fish population is thin at best. This is more of a peaceful paddle spot than a fishing destination.
Rec Area Pass Required
It's inside Waterloo State Recreation Area, so you'll need a Michigan Recreation Passport on your vehicle. Easy to forget if you're just popping over for a quick paddle.
Quiet Water Gem
With no motors allowed and limited access, this lake stays dead calm and almost eerily quiet. If you want solitude on the water without driving up north, this is one of the best-kept secrets in Washtenaw County.
