Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Kayak/Canoe Only
There's no traditional boat ramp here — you've got two EZ Dock launches on the west side of Woodside Rd and a timber slide rail on the east side. Perfect for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, but don't show up with a trailered boat expecting to get in the water.
Surprisingly Peaceful
Being on Belle Isle, you'd expect crowds, but the Nashua Canal launches feel tucked away. Weekday mornings you might not see another soul. The wooded trails along either side of the canal add to the vibe — it's a different world from the busy parts of the island.
Winter Footing Warning
The boardwalk sections leading to the launches get icy in winter, and they're not salted or treated. If you're hauling a kayak down there in cold months, wear boots with real grip or you're going for an unplanned swim.
No Trailer Parking
Zero trailer spots, zero lanes — this is a carry-in operation. Park along Woodside Rd or in the nearest Belle Isle lot and walk your boat in. Keep your gear light and manageable.
Stop-Log Structure Access
The two EZ Docks sit on either side of the stop-log structure, so pick your put-in based on which direction you want to paddle. The east-side slide rail is more basic but works fine for lighter boats. The whole setup was built in 2019, so the infrastructure is still in solid shape.
