Ask Talquin regulars for the best public ramp and Coe Landing keeps coming up — closest to Tallahassee, the most boater parking on the lake, and a two-lane concrete ramp in good shape. The county campground here is a quietly famous little spot: roughly 20 secluded sites on the water for about $25 a night, with 50-amp power and water (no sewer — there's a dump station), a clean bathhouse, and wifi. RVers trade site numbers online; 9 and 11 sit near the dock, with 9 the easier back-in. Reserve through Leon County — winter crappie season fills it.

You're on the east end near the deepest water in the lake — the drowned Ochlockonee channel. Winter crappie drifters and striper trollers both work this end; the Minor Creek channel and the timber edges west of the landing are the local starting points.

One more time, because this end earns it: the timber is thickest around Coe. Idle out until you're sure of your line, use the channel, and treat glassy low-light water with suspicion — the log you don't see is the one that finds your lower unit.
