The Trophy Lake's One Door
A single concrete lane with launch and staging docks at the end of Boat Landing Road — fourteen trailer spots, free, 5 AM to 10 PM, jointly kept by Polk County and FWC. For a nationally known trophy fishery, the access is almost comically modest, which tells you everything about the pressure levels out there.
Shiner-Fleet Mornings
Spring big-fish season concentrates the guide boats and shiner drifters here at first light — fourteen spots can pinch on the perfect February Saturday. Midweek, you may rig alone.
Mind the Margins
The lake's sandy shallows extend off the ramp; in low-water spells, launching takes patience and trim. Once floating, the bowl is yours — and so is the wind, so check the forecast before committing to the far shore.
