When the ramp is open, the constraint is the single lane and the 8 a.m. gate — there is no pre-dawn launch here. Right now the constraint is the closure.

Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Closed to Trailers
Effective May 5, 2026 and still posted at the end of July: “The boat ramp at Myakka River State Park is temporarily closed to trailered vessels due to low water levels.” No reopening date is published. FWC agrees (“Temporarily Closed”) but gives no date or reason. Call the ranger station at 941-361-6511 before you hitch up.
The Fee Is Two Fees
FWC's $10 is a total, not a price: $6 per vehicle to enter the park plus $4 to launch a motorized boat, paid at the ranger station. A paddler pays the $6 only.
Use the SR 72 Entrance
The main entrance is on State Road 72 — the North Gate opens Saturdays, Sundays and state holidays only, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., so a weekday trailer aimed there finds it shut. The park prints 13207 State Road 72, Sarasota; FWC's rows say 13208. Ranger station: 941-361-6511.
No HP Cap, a Depth Cap
There is no horsepower limit here — the water level does the restricting. Florida State Parks, verbatim: “Myakka does not have strict motor size restrictions, but seasonal water level variation prevents some engines from operation.” Minimum speed / no wake is mandatory regardless.
If It Doesn't Work
There is no other trailered access to Upper Myakka Lake. Switch craft — the sand kayak beach 500 feet south by the Myakka Outpost, with rentals, which the closure alert does not cover — or switch water. The park's other hand launch, at the bridge a mile inside the SR 72 entrance, is a river put-in, not a lake one.

FWC's record contradicts itself — “No Accommodations for Accessibility” in one field, an accessible restroom and four accessible vehicle spaces in others — and the park's pages do not describe accessible launch facilities. Call the ranger station before you rely on either version.
