Crowding Six vehicle spaces, sitting next to the Myakka Outpost concession, which rents canoes and kayaks — so the beach draws both trip parties and renters, and the six spaces are the binding number on a good weekend. With the trailer ramp closed since May 5, 2026, this is the only listed way onto Upper Myakka Lake, which concentrates whatever demand there is here.
Plan B — if this lot is full The park's other hand launch, per Florida State Parks: “Paddlers are welcome to launch at the bridge located one mile into the park from the State Road 72 entrance.” FWC carries that one separately as SA00004AA with WaterBodyName “Myakka River,” not this lake, so it is a river put-in rather than a lake put-in. Rentals are at the Myakka Outpost. Note there is no shuttle — the agency's words: “There is no park-provided shuttle system.”

The Way Onto the Lake
With the trailer ramp closed for low water since May 5, 2026, this sand beach by the Myakka Outpost is the way onto Upper Myakka Lake — the park's paddling page says visitors “may also launch into the Upper Myakka Lake near the concession area.” The closure alert does not reach it; the same low water does. Call 941-361-6511 first.
Pay $6, Not $10
$6 per vehicle, entry only. The $4 launch charge applies to motorized boats, not canoes or kayaks. FWC's ramp row on this lake says $10 — that figure is a trailered motorboat's total and will over-budget a paddler.
Rules That Bind You
Buy a Florida freshwater fishing license before you arrive — the park does not sell them. Crabbing, frogging, spear fishing and bow fishing are prohibited; cast-netting is for exotic species only and not from structures. South of State Road 72 is permit-and-quota water, 30 people a day.
Season Cuts Both Ways
The park's own words: “During the dry season, portaging may be required,” and “During the wet season, the river current becomes very strong.” Plan the trip to the season, not the map.
What the Beach Is
A sand kayak launch with no dock and six vehicle spaces on paved parking, next to the Myakka Outpost concession, which rents canoes and kayaks. No agency page describes the launch surface beyond that.
