High Bluff Recreation Area Boat Ramp

High Bluff is Talquin's wild-side access: two concrete lanes with a fixed dock at the foot of a bluff in Lake Talquin State Forest, reached by a dirt road off Highway 268. Free to launch, open around the clock, and the big fishing pier here carries FWC fish attractors — another of the four shore-angler sites on the lake.

Nineteen primitive bluff-top sites (tent or modest RV, driveways 24–36 ft) at roughly $9–10 a night through ReserveAmerica — fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilets, and nothing else. No water, no showers, no hookups; pack in accordingly. Horse camping is allowed for self-sufficient riders, and cell coverage is decent across carriers.

The campground sits against Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area — during hunting seasons expect blaze orange in the woods and trucks at the trailheads, and keep dogs close. Burn bans apply in droughts; check the Florida Forest Service status before counting on a campfire.

This is the only public ramp on the lake's wooded north shore — the deep east-end channel and the Bear Creek arm are minutes away by water, a run that takes east-shore boaters a full crossing. Lily pads and weedbeds crowd one side of the pier; work the open side.

High Bluff Landing Road is unpaved — fine for any vehicle in normal weather, slower going after heavy rain with a heavy rig. The pier pin on Google sits a couple hundred meters from the ramp itself; follow the road to the water and you'll find both.
