Wainwright Landing

Lake Talquin · Leon County, Florida
Last verified: July 2, 2026
Standing timber, stumps, and floating logs lurk throughout this flooded-forest reservoir, many just under the surface — run the marked river channel when you can, keep speeds honest in open water, and be extra careful in low light.

Dock-Fisher's Landing
Wainwright's calling card is its docks — one on each side of the ramp, rebuilt in recent years and kept in great condition, and productive enough that regulars fish them at midnight and dawn without ever launching a boat. One picnic table, no restrooms, open around the clock.
Parking Is the Catch
The grass lot holds about five rigs and that's that — there is no bigger lot hiding somewhere. Early or weekday, no problem; Saturday mid-morning, plan on Stoutamire a mile east.
Highway 20 Chain
This is the middle link of the southwest-shore chain — Stoutamire, Wainwright, Blount inside four miles of each other on SR 20 — so bouncing to the next landing costs minutes, not the morning.
Same Water as Blount
Down-lake southwest shore: deeper water toward the dam, striper runs in the cool months, and, on a lucky day, not a yellow fly in sight. Other days aren’t lucky; carry repellent late spring through summer.
