Windy Point Boat Ramp

This is Istokpoga's serious-angler launch: two paved lanes with a floating dock, a 73-trailer paved lot, restrooms, and shaded pavilions that double as weigh-in stations. It runs 24 hours — on this lake the best bite and the calmest water both happen early. On derby mornings the pinch point is shoreline boat parking; arrive ahead of the field.

The southwest shore takes the fetch when wind runs out of the north or east, and on the wrong day you can spend longer launching and recovering than fishing. On a lake this shallow the chop stacks steep and fast — check the forecast, and if a blow is coming, fish the lee shorelines or pick another day.

The lake's deepest water — all of about 10 feet — sits in this southwest corner, which is exactly where the winter speck drifters work open water December through April. The Josephine Creek mouth and the Istokpoga Canal structure off CR 621 are both a short run from here and turn on whenever there's flow.

This was a sand-and-dirt launch for years; the rebuilt version is top-notch. The statewide largemouth regulation sign at the ramp is the current word on bass rules — five per day, only one 16 inches or over. The small fishing dock was closed for repair in early 2026; the ramp itself was unaffected.

There's more than concrete: a boardwalk and short trail through the woods, picnic tables, and reliable gator- and bird-watching from the dock — baby gators sun in numbers along the bank. Standard Istokpoga rules apply: admire from distance, keep the dog close.
