Plan B — if this lot is full No pass? Carney Island Boat Ramp 2 miles north takes anyone for $7 a vehicle, with six lanes and the full park attached. Different water: Lake Griffin (Harris Chain), the Ocala National Forest lakes — Kerr, Eaton, Dorr — or Rodman Reservoir round out the Marion County circuit.

Pass Holders Only
The county page says it in capitals: FACILITY USE LIMITED TO PARK PASS HOLDERS ONLY. There's no daily fee to pay and no attendant to charm — access runs on the Marion County annual park pass, full stop. For locals who buy the pass, that gate is the amenity: four good lanes with a fraction of Carney's traffic.
Four Lanes, Floating Docks
Concrete lanes graded Good to Excellent, floating docks the county installed specifically to ride out Lake Weir's level swings, 11 paved trailer spots, lighting, picnic tables and a flush restroom. As pass-gated neighborhood ramps go, it's genuinely well-built.
Sam Phillips' 1944 Gift
Sam Phillips donated this ramp to Marion County in 1944, and the county rebuilt it on a $135,611 FRDAP grant with a grand reopening in May 2011. Eighty years of continuous public launching from one southwest-shore gift — worth knowing as you idle out.
