The Ramp That Stays Open
When Okeechobee drops and the north-shore lake ramps close on low water, C. Scott Driver keeps working because it launches into the deep C-38 (Kissimmee River) channel rather than the lake flat. Six concrete lanes, a big paved lot with room for 78 trailers, ADA access, and no fee — the dependable north-side door to the Big O.
River-Mouth Fishing
You're at the Kissimmee's mouth, some of the most productive water on the system — winter crappie stack the inflow and the bass follow the current. Many anglers never leave the river and canal here; the open lake is a run south for those who want it.
Gators and Big Water
This is wild south-Florida water: alligators are a given, and once you're on the open lake the nine-foot average depth builds a short, steep, dangerous chop with any real wind. Watch the sky and your back-track home.
