Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Outside the Dike
Pahokee is unusual — a marina set on the water side of the Herbert Hoover Dike, so you launch straight onto the open east shore instead of running through a rim canal and lock. The marina has taken storm damage in recent years — verify slips and services before counting on them; the ramp itself is the reliable part.
Direct East-Shore Access
That on-lake position puts you immediately onto the productive east-shore grass lines off Pahokee and Canal Point — no lock cycle, no long canal run. The trade-off is exposure: there's nothing between you and the wind.
Make a Weekend
With the campground on site, one of the Glades' best sunset views, and the open lake at the ramp's end, Pahokee works as a basecamp for the east side — a quieter, more scenic alternative to the big south-shore ramps.
