Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Rebuilt and Ready
Osceola County recently rebuilt this landing, and it shows: new two-lane concrete ramp, new launch and staging docks, fresh parking for 30 rigs, flush restrooms, and a covered picnic pavilion that doubles as a tournament weigh-in station. Free and open 24 hours, the only around-the-clock public ramp on the lake — the pre-dawn launch by default.
Famous Birding Road
The five miles of Joe Overstreet Road between US 441 and the water are internationally known birding: snail kites over the marsh, sandhill cranes in the pastures, bald eagles, caracaras, burrowing owls, and whooping cranes in the reintroduction years. Many mornings half the vehicles at the landing belong to photographers — plan the lot accordingly.
Airboats at the Dock
Kissimmee Swamp Tours runs airboat rides from the landing, so expect tour traffic in the basin and give the big fans room. It also means restrooms and a bit of civilization at what is otherwise a remote corner of the lake.
Washboard Toll Road
No launch fee, but the washboard gravel of Joe Overstreet Road is the price of admission, and it has been for decades. Take it slow with a heavy boat, and know the county grades it irregularly. Low-slung tow vehicles will feel every mile.
Three Lakes Country
The shoreline north and south of the landing runs into Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area — duck hunting in season, deer and turkey country behind the marsh, and an east shore with essentially no development. The FWC fish-attractor partnership sign at the ramp isn't decoration: marked attractor sites sit within an easy run.
