The Lock's Home Ramp
Two concrete lanes, launch dock, flush restrooms, twenty-one trailer and twenty-nine vehicle spots, free, daytime hours — the city facility on Hartridge's southwest shore is the natural staging ground for the chain's signature trip: north across the lake, into the canal, and through the self-operated lock to the North Chain.
Clean-Water Home Base
You're launching onto what has long been the South Chain's healthiest water — the lake the planners could point to when they wanted to show what the rest could become. The residential shorelines and airport-side openness fish quieter than the restaurant lakes.
Daytime Only
Hours are daylight — pre-dawn lock missions stage from Cannon's 24-hour ramp one lake south instead, then run up. The lock itself is a daylight activity anyway; operate it with sun on the instructions.
