Crowding The flagship ramp — the one every guide and fishing report launches from. On a landlocked lake with no chain traffic, 17 paved trailer spots go a long way; spring weekend mornings are the busiest it gets.
Plan B — if this lot is full Same lake: Lake Yale Boat Ramp West on the northwest shore — one primitive lane, no dock, three gravel spots. The old East ramp was permanently closed by the county in 2022; don't follow old maps there. Different water: Lake Griffin's ramps are a short tow south, but the canal between the lakes is not a dependable boat route — that's a separate lake day.

Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
The Flagship Door
Two concrete lanes (FWC grades them Good to Excellent), a launch dock, composting toilet, picnic tables and 17 paved trailer spots — free, around the clock. For a 4,041-acre lake this is effectively the whole front entrance, and it's a good one.
Trailer In, Trailer Out
Whatever the chain maps imply, the Yale-Griffin Canal is not a dependable route off this lake — often overgrown, not reliably navigable per local boating sources, with no lock to blame and no schedule to catch. Every trip here starts and ends at a ramp on Yale. Plan fuel, weather and daylight accordingly.
The 2018 Dig-Out
In 2018 FWC, the Lake County Water Authority and county Parks pulled 10.1 acres of floating vegetation and mud tussock off the south end to restore boater access at this ramp during water-level fluctuations. That's the maintenance reality of a marsh-ringed lake — and why this corner stays open.
Watch the Alum Barges
The multi-year alum treatment that began in February 2026 is applied in phases from the water. Officials say it doesn't restrict any recreational use — so if you see the application rig working, fish on.
