Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
The Working Low-Water Door
One concrete lane, three paved spots, no dock, no toilet, free — and through the 2025-26 dry-down it has stayed on FWC's short list of working launches. Small jon boats, mud motors, airboats and paddle craft kept using Crowder when the bigger ramps went high and dry (WTXL, April 2026).
Walk to Porter Sink
When the lake drains, Crowder Road becomes a trailhead: it's a named walking access to Porter Sink, the karst crater that swallows the lake — described as a 'moon crater' in May 2026 coverage. Go in daylight and mind the soft bed; the sink has disappeared and refilled dozens of times in recorded history.
South-Shore Simplicity
1053 Crowder Rd, south shore. No restrooms, no dock, no fee, no fuss — bring what you need and you'll rarely wait on the lane.
