The Porter Sink Neighborhood
One sand lane at 1895 Faulk Dr, no dock, no toilet, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. — a plain neighborhood launch that earns its fame only when the water leaves. WFSU names Faulk Drive as one of the walking accesses to Porter Sink during dry-downs; same caveats as everywhere on the exposed bed — daylight, soft ground, no vehicles.
The 2021 Discovery
During the 2021 dry-down (not this one), a rider crossing the exposed bed found two human skulls in the muck near the end of Faulk Drive. State archaeologists determined the remains were of Native American ancestry, potentially five centuries old (Tallahassee Democrat). People have been drawn to these disappearing waters for a very long time.
Know the Name
FWC's inventory calls it simply 'Faulk Landing'; the county and most locals say 'Faulk Drive Landing.' Same sand lane either way.
